My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Rescue
by NewSong
You are the source of life
I can’t be left behind
No one else will do
I will take hold of You
I need You Jesus, to come to my rescue
Where else can I go?
There’s no other Name by which I am saved
Capture me with grace, I will follow You
My heart is Yours for life
I need Your hand in mine
No one else will do
Lord, I put my trust in You
This world has nothing for me
I will follow You
You are the source of life
I can’t be left behind
No one else will do
I will take hold of You
I need You Jesus, to come to my rescue
Where else can I go?
There’s no other Name by which I am saved
Capture me with grace, I will follow You
My heart is Yours for life
I need Your hand in mine
No one else will do
Lord, I put my trust in You
This world has nothing for me
I will follow You

What Defines Me
It should never have been that I was defined by my marital status-while it's true that I'm single now, that is definitely not the thing that defines me. The Lord in my life is what defines me.
So, with that in mind I'm making some changes. And in the Lord's grace praying He'll guide me. . .

Our Snowy Afternoon
Hanging out in the living room and waiting for our new dryer to be delivered. Looked outside and. . . what's that? "ummm. . . Amy, it's snowing". So, of course we had to be kids and go play-if only it would stick. No such luck, it only lasted like 5 minutes, but we have proof. . .

proof that it was falling

proof that we were in it. . .

My Jesus
by Todd Agnew
Which Jesus do you follow?
Which Jesus do you serve?
If Ephesians says to imitate Christ
Then why do you look so much like the world?
Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the arrogant
So which one do you want to be?
Blessed are the poor in spirit
Or do we pray to be blessed with the wealth of this land
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness
Or do we ache for another taste of this world of shifting sand
Cause my Jesus bled and died for my sins
He spent His time with thieves and sluts and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the rich
So which one do you want to be?
Who is this that you follow
This picture of the American dream
If Jesus was here would you walk right by on the other side or fall down and worship at His holy feet
Pretty blue eyes and curly brown hair and a clear complexion
Is how you see Him as He dies for Your sins
But the Word says He was battered and scarred
Or did you miss that part
Sometimes I doubt we'd recognize Him
Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and the least of these
He loved the poor and accosted the comfortable
So which one do you want to be?
Cause my Jesus would never be accepted in my church
The blood and dirt on His feet would stain the carpet
But He reaches for the hurting and despised the proud
I think He'd prefer Beale St. to the stained glass crowd
And I know that He can hear me if I cry out loud
I want to be like my Jesus!
I want to be like my Jesus!
Not a posterchild for American prosperity, but like my Jesus
You see I'm tired of living for success and popularity
I want to be like my Jesus but I'm not sure what that means to be like You Jesus
Cause You said to live like You, love like You but then You died for me
Can I be like You Jesus?
I want to be like my Jesus
Which Jesus do you follow?
Which Jesus do you serve?

Resolved
from Jonathan Edwards' RESOLUTIONS
#8
Resolved, to act, in all respects, both speaking and doing, as if nobody had been so vile as I, and as if I had committed the same sins, or had the same infirmities or failings as others; and that I will let the knowledge of their failings promote nothing but shame in myself, and prove only an occasion of my confessing my own sins and misery to God.

Upward Life
A couple of months ago, when I had to make the hard decision to stay in Birmingham instead of heading off to Louisville for seminary, I knew the Lord had something for me here, or He wouldn't ask me to stay, but I couldn't imagine ever being happy or even content here. But within a few hours the Lord opened up some doors that I would have never even dreamed about.
One of the most exciting--coaching 3rd and 4th grade girls in Upward Basketball. We have a blast every week and although I don't know a thing about basketball they love me anyways.
So, here they are. . . the Lady Dolphins!

a little pre-game strategy

look at that speed. . .

lining up for the new period

and, just as important--cheering on our teammates!

End of the Spear
The story of the five missionaries killed in 1956. Written by Nate Saint, son of Steve Saint.
Go see it:
Go see it:

Ruin Me
You know how once you've experienced the best you're ruined. It's like my Granny's pumpkin pie. It's the best in the world and once you've had it you're not interested in any other pumpking pie. But that's not often how I am with the Lord.
I was running on the treadmill last night listening to the trusty iPod and since I never know what song will come on next it's always a toss up, but this song came on and I found myself having a hard time not shouting in the gym, "Come and ruin me with your love. So no other is enough."
"Friend for Life" by Watermark
Friend for life
Who took my pain
The cleansing flood
You remain
Wash over me
Till I can't be seen
Living Water swallow me
Deepest river wash me clean
Jesus, Savior more of thee
Jesus, more of thee
Come and ruin me with Your love
So no other is enough
Come and leave Your mark on me
Jesus, more of thee
Jesus, more of thee
Friend for life
I'll carry on
Through the power
Of this flood
Let it spill over, over
Till I can't be seen
Living Water swallow me
Deepest river wash me clean
Jesus, Savior more of thee
Jesus, more of thee
Come and ruin me with Your love
So no other is enough
Come and leave Your mark on me
Jesus, more of thee
Jesus, more of thee
Deep is the stain
Inside of me
But deeper the river
That washes me clean
I've been the one
Who cries in the night
But you've been
The friend of my life
Living Water swallow me
Deepest river wash me clean
Jesus, Savior more of thee
Jesus, more of thee
Come and ruin me with Your love
So no other is enough
Come and leave Your mark on me
Jesus, more of thee
